27.04. 16:00 - 09.06.2024 18:00 | Exhibition I Project Space

Schrein

Paulus Ramstorfer, Julian Kadrnoschka

A space can protect, it can shelter, prompt or restrict action, make them possible or impossible.

The installation forms and constructs a space, a building, a shrine through the visitor's perception.

Though the space is integrated into the exhibition room it is detached, standing gracefully. It is formed from walls made of paper. The motifs that decorate and simultaneously shape the room are visible from both inside and outside. Translucent and illuminated, these murals show vague figures and scenes.

The shrine – a protective vessel for holy relics  – is empty and can be entered. The visitors leave their footprint on the soft floor.

Where there is nothing, I am at home.
