Kritzel (2023)

In the exhibition Nach der Sprache, Fanni Futterknecht presents a number of objects from the performative project Echoes of Resistance (2021/24). The accompanying screening at Cinema Paradiso contextualises these elements in relation to their genesis, a process in which Futterknecht investigates the tension between the collective and the individual, between writing, drawing and speaking. Here, scribbling entails a gesture of overwriting to encounter the abundance of words in a fragile society. When scribbles replace the verbal, a space of the unspoken is accessed––a space that only exists through sound, movements and traces.

The screening is followed by a talk with Fanni Futterknecht and Frederike Sperling (Artistic director, Kunstraum Niederösterreich).
