Formen des Fehlens
Over the next few weeks, the project space will turn into a studio. In her current project Formen des Fehlens, Barbara Szüts examines the negative form as an active component of a sculpture – not as a blank space, but as a thinking, processual form that is constantly reforming itself in interaction with the space and the viewer.
What is missing plays a central role – as a mirror, as movement, as a projection surface. It is an active counterpart – as a structural force that changes the relationship between inside and outside, surface and space, presence and absence. The void allows the viewer to see through, it guides the gaze and connects the surrounding space with the sculpture. The artwork does not exist on its own, but in constant exchange with its surroundings – physically, visually and atmospherically.
