Die Faszination der Singularität
The singularity as the initial source of inspiration from which everything emerges.
The singular point marks the beginning of a shape that extends in various directions, gains dimensions and creates realities. The formative line can represent everything until it collapses again into a singularity. This characterises Michael Bottig's Linuren, drawings in the form of one continuous line without intersections.
born in Vienna in 1955, lives in Baden since 1976. After studying under Rudolf Hausner at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, he taught art education and later computer science. His genres are in the realist-figurative realm; in terms of content, he turns to socio-political themes, as illustrated in the exhibition titles Eve-Goddess-Adam, Expulsion from Paradise or Dislocation. Bottig works in the media of painting, sculpture and graphics, as in the currently shown, partly animated Linuren.
